Luke's video time!!

Emy is so full of life that she takes over during videos. She is full of action and all Luke can do is basically watch her soooooo. . . Emy went to youth group tonight and I took advantage and filmed Luke showing off his cuteness!! Let me know what you think..notice he has his braces on his sweet feet!!

Luke's new shoes

Luke got his inserts for his shoes today (orthotic braces) and he is NOT a big fan yet! They really straighten his feet out though. He walks a little off balance with them on and wants them off quickly. We are starting off slowly at 2 hours a day, working our way up to 6 hours a day until at least October when we go back to UNC for follow up. See picture of the braces above!! Emy the Great picked out all the colors for the braces!! SUPER JOB EMY!!

P.S. Luke just came to me and wanted his braces on--so that is a GOOD thing!! I will let him wear them some this evening. . . talk with y'all later!!

Last trip to the beach--for a while anyway!

We are at the beach (it has been a beautiful day for bike riding, walking and playing at the playground). Recently we made the decision to pull the camper back home. Unfortunately it mainly has to do with too many expenses and not enough income at the moment. The good thing is that we feel good about this decision, as we also want to visit other places. That is impossible when the camper is set up permanently at the coast! However, if you ever want your camper or RV set up permanently at the beach, Topsail Sound RV Park is the absolute BEST place you could ever go. Check them out at http://www.topsailsoundrvpark.com/ if you want to visit a top notch RV park in NC! It's one of our favorite places to visit!! You can visit them for weekends too, as they have some temporary sites too. They have park models for sale--they are beautiful--maybe one day, huh???

We will miss everyone at TSRVP though. Just to name a few:

Sonya, Chris & twins--you guys will always have a special place in our hearts. We want to keep up with you and watch the twins grow. We will be keeping in touch!! We will miss you all so much!! We watched you go from childless to having twins and we think you make wonderful parents! We love each of you like family! We will email you often and will visit a few times during the year I'm sure!! We will call you when we get there so we can get together with the kids.. .

Edna & Dean--you have always made us feel welcome, since day one at the park and we appreciate it so much. You have always made our Emy feel special and for that we are thankful. We will be keeping in touch with you, don't worry--and we will visit some this summer!! We love y'all. I will be emailing you lots Edna!

Gail & family (Emy will especially miss Sarah & Amber--please keep up up to date through email), Deb & Craig, Angela & Mike, Macy and her family, Riley and her family, Logan and her family (hope you get our lot--I know you guys are interested in it), Mike & Cindy, Dale & Carolyn, Dale & Sandie, and our friends from Sanford--y'all have been so good to us and we appreciate every prayer you have prayed, every cent you have given to our Luke fund and every kind word you ever spoke to our Princess Emy & Prince Luke!! It means alot to parents when others are kind to the kids. . .

See ya next time we come down the beach--Darrell will be back and forth for the next couple of weekends to finish taking the deck down, hauling it home, same with the storage building. Stop in and say hello to him.

Love all of y'all. Have fun this summer!!

Emy & Luke -- Short video this morning!!

This is video that I captured this morning!! Emy & Luke LOVE to flip and play. As you can see, Emy is hardly ever still. She is constantly on the move and Luke just takes it all in. I think she helps him ALOT with every aspect of being here.

He wants to keep up with her and is moving quite a bit faster than he was when he first came home.

You can tell Emy has allergies by her "stuffy nose" sound in the video. Mine too.

Enjoy!!

Luke's Assessment

Well, Luke did great at his assessment for speech therapy and OT services. PT will come later. He actually scored 2 points low for his age on all categories (what consistency) and we will have him re-tested in 6 months. He will know more English then and hopefully can communicate better with those nice ladies!! He didn't shy away from them, he just wanted me there with him and that is understandable!!

Luke & Emy stayed with "Nanny" Marie at daycare for 2 whole hours without me on Friday. I thought that was AWESOME! Neither one cried when I left them (I wonder if that is because I kind of snuck out)?. Awesome just the same to ME! And what a reception when I went to pick them up--it was lots of hugs and smiles for mama then!! Emy raced to me first with a great big hug. Then Luke saw me and whooped for joy and just loved on me and hugged me too!! I am officially wrapped around both of their little fingers for LIFE!! (Don't tell them--it's a secret!)

Two more weeks people and then, for me, it is back to work part time for two weeks and then back to work full time--I dread working again in a way because I really worry about Mr. Luke. I KNOW Emy will do great--she always does. . . he is a little bit attached to me at the hip these days. Oh well, we shall see!!

Will post new pictures soon--

Later y'all...

Pollen--ugh!

Well--Emy, Luke and myself--we all have the pollen blues or either a cold. All I have done for three days is wipe noses (mine included). I want to think it is pollen but am leaning toward thinking it is a bad cold!! So, we sit here underneath our pine trees and inhale all that pollen on these gorgeous days that we CAN'T even spend inside--especially when I have two children who LOVE the outdoors!! We take long walks on these days and they love to swing and play in the dirt. They like to chalk up my carport also. . Emy loves to go to Papa's where she can ride her bike on a paved driveway. Did I mention our rock collection grows daily??

Luke has had a miserable day, his breathing has been pretty rough at times. A trip to the doctor for nothing--they told me to give him breathing treatments (like I used to do for Emy--she now has a big girl inhaler). Might I add that Luke runs from anything that sounds loud or different (for example, vacuum cleaner, hair dryer, air compressor, nebulizer for breathing treatments, etc). Sooooo, I waited until he fell asleep, being brilliant as I sometimes am, and did the breathing treatment and he is sleeping soooo good. Emy is asleep right now in Darrell's chair, Luke in his crib, Darrell in our room and of course I am up, unable to sleep once again. BUT, there is hope--I yawned a minute ago and can feel myself leaning toward sleepiness--Yay me!

Emy starts soccer on Saturday and we are all very excited about that!! We are prepared--shin guards, check! (they are so small--and so incredibly cute). .thank you for your assistance Uncle Greg and Aunt Angie Pangie!! Can't wait to post those soccer pics!! Hillcrest park at 9:30am if anyone is interested in seeing her debut on the soccer field! She will be the one in PINK! Didn't ya know? Pink is the IN color at our house!!

See y'all later, goodnight & sweet dreams to all!!

Pics you will WANT to see!

Emy's beautiful hairdo today!! Don't you love the sparkle ribbons?? They are homemade from her pom poms!!
Emy giving me her look!! She has got to be the prettiest girl in NC!!
Luke got his glasses!! And he started answering the phone this week "hallo" he says. . . Uncle Greg is on the other end!!
Yep, another pic!
Ain't he the cutest thing you ever saw???
Luke doesn't like to put the glasses on, but will wear them pretty well after they are in place!! He doesn't seem to be tripping quite as much and he is having fun pulling them down his nose and pushing them back up, experimenting with his sight!!
Quite the handsome young man, don't ya think???

More doctors for Luke!

Well, bless his heart--poor little Luke--he doesn't like them but we had to go to two more doctors appts yesterday. We went to orthopedics and then to physical therapy. He was molded for orthotics for both feet. Luke is completely flat-footed and they want to create an arch in his feet. He also walks on the insides of his feet (where the arches should be). These orthotics will be short boot-like braces that will fit inside of his shoes and that he will wear daily. (yeah, right--I know--he is a stubborn box so we will see--we are gonna try anyway!!)

SO---this week we will be picking up his glasses and in 3 weeks we will get his foot braces. I think he may be able to keep up with Emy after all this. . . she better watch out!!

We do keep getting the same remarks from all of these doctors. "Luke is doing GREAT and he got excellent care in India!! He is very HEALTHY!!" Music to a mama's ears. .

EMY NOTE: We were sitting in the in the waiting area and Emy was drinking Pepsi. Well, she burped the biggest burp I have ever heard--and then says in the sweetest, most Princess like voice "excuse me". Everyone laughed!!

And then, while in with PT, during discussion about Luke's foot molds/braces, Emy says "I have a question!". The PT lady says "What would you like to know Emy?". Emy says "Do you like my hair?" (she had sparkle ribbons in it). The lady was so nice--she said "your hair is beautiful".

HA! My girl strikes again! These two kids are my sunshine, let me tell ya! Even going to the doctor is FUN! (well, almost!)

See ya!
