It never ceases to AMAZE ME!

When you are a mama, it doesn't matter how you sound. . when you sing that is. Kids love to hear you sing. Luke loves that song ....

"Who's the little baby in the water, floating down the river peacefully-it is baby Moses in the water, God is watching over him you see--God is watching over Moses and he's watching over Me!"

It is his favorite song and when he gets tired, he walks up to me (should I say stumbles) and says "God God" in his little sing song voice and it is so SWEET!!

Emy's favorite song when she first came home was "This little light of mine". So she walked around pointing up in the air all the time trying to sing it. That was precious! Now she likes Hush Little Baby and she likes all of the songs we sing at church. We sing often around the house and they love to clap and jump and dance!!

But as the title of this blog statement says, it NEVER ceases to amaze me how they love MY voice and let me tell ya--it's NOT pretty! But as long as they want me to, I will keep singing--that is my gift to my children--and it goes no further than these four walls--that is their gift to me!

Just a thought I had to write down,
Cindy

Quote from Emy

They were just playing in the water in the kitchen sink and Emy says "I made a big mess Mama but Luke has made the biggest mess I EVER saw!"

That's my girl. . .

Nanny & Poppy

We visited Nanny and Poppy today. This is where Emy & Luke will be staying once I go back to work!! Luke did great! We got to see Nanny, Poppy, Becca, Olivia, Jackelyn and Ethan!!

We had a great time. Luke & Emy have fun with other kids. He loves to play with toys and he liked their piano. He would play a bit and then turn around to get our applause!! Clap clap and grin grin--that's our Luke! Emy loves it there (Becca is Emy's very best friend) and it will be good for Luke and her to have other kids to play with. (Olivia can't wait to spoil Luke!!) The busier it is, the happier they are. . . thanks Nanny for a great visit!! We will come again soon!

More later,
Cindy

I know-I've been slack

I know, I have been a little bit slack on blogging this week. Luke had 2 dr appts and Emy had 1, so I am fortunate to still be around. Those two didn't like me very much this week!

Luke had his eye appointment on Thursday and I wanted to update the blog. The dr told us that we are definitely going to have to put glasses on him. He couldn't get a good measurement, though. Luke's eyes are so dark that we are going to have to put drops in 3 times before we go back so they will be more dilated and the dr can try to get better measurements. He will wear glasses for a while for his near sightedness and then we will go back to have them measure the degree of crossing (left eye). Surgery or patching or maybe even both will be in our future. But first things first--we need to get a good measurement when we go back in a couple of weeks so that his near sightedness improves. Then on to more good things. I am looking forward to his glasses because I think that will improve his balance and depth perception!! He is a bit off on these at times but it doesn't bother him, he just gets up and keeps on truckin!

Cindy

I promised pics--here they are!

Luke is trying his hardest to get into Emy's room--he bangs a while and then peeks under the door!
Emy pushes Luke in his Tonka Truck! He is all smiles during this activity!
Luke's first experience with eating ice--or, really putting it in his mouth and then making a very funny face and spitting it back out!!
Emy & Cristian try to keep Luke out by putting the white shoe rack in front of their hideout! It didn't work. Luke just moved the shoe rack and pushed his way in.
Luke with ice and Josh with a big smile!
What fun we are having here! We went today for Emy's Kindergarten physical and boy did Emy get physical. . . she fought tooth and nail not to get those shots. It took three of us to hold the girl down so her legs wouldn't move--whew--what a day! Luke cried, Emy cried and Mommy cried (I had a moment, okay?) She had to get 3 shots today--don't worry--the Tylenol took effect and the hot fudge sundae worked better than the Tylenol to put a smile back on her face!
Back to the younguns. Talk to ya'll tomorrow.

Neurologist Visit

I know, I know. You want more pictures. I will get back to that tomorrow.

Today, Luke had his pediatric neurology visit and we got some REALLY GREAT NEWS. As we had always thought, Luke's condition is very mild. Dr. W. said that Luke had received excellent treatment in India and that we need to be careful that what treatment they choose is up to par with the India doctors. Boy did that make me feel lots better! You always are concerned that in India, they may not get the good care they need. HE DID!

Luke did FANTASTIC. He has gained 2 1/2 pounds since coming home. (now weighs 26 pounds!) The doctor said Luke is doing GREAT! Luke did get undressed (without too much fuss) and walked for Dr. W across the room and back. His legs are his weakness (which we knew) and we are setting up appointments very soon for orthopedics and also physical therapy. The doctor was more concerned about his vision/eyes than his legs really. He thinks once we get some glasses for Luke that everything will improve (we thought this too), including balance! We will also be getting him into a speech program (Emy was in speech for one year and it made a world of difference for her--she is much better understood by everyone now, especially if she takes her time to speak slowly--come to think of it, that doesn't happen very often--Ha!)

Emy, of course, won the dr's and nurse's hearts and got a Teddy Bear just for visiting with Luke. Luke got a wart hog (Darrell says it is a rhino)--like I said, it's a warthog! Ha!

Please keep praying the Luke continues to do well with his legs and that they grow stronger daily. We try to keep him busy with stairs, walking up and down hills, picking up objects off of the floor/ground, pushing a stroller around and around, jumping up and down, marching. He likes to walk for short distances and we try to push him a little bit, instead of picking him up we urge him to go a little farther. He doesn't like that too much, but he keeps on trucking.

Luke is beautiful, inside and out. He is a precious little boy who loves to laugh and doesn't like to get in trouble. He hangs his head when I tell him no and it makes me want to give in (but you know me). He loves to play hide and seek with Emy inside the house, he loves to chase his Aunt Angie through the house and he loves to squeal at me to scare me (I squeal back and he just giggles). Luke is giving Emy a run for her money, let me tell you! He is almost running now and doesn't give in like she thinks he should (because he is the LITTLE brother).

So, in closing, I will post more pictures tomorrow, I promise (I think)

Later taters,
Cindy

P.S.--BY THE WAY, EMY GOES FOR HER KINDERGARTEN PHYSICAL TOMORROW--CAN YOU BELIEVE SHE STARTS SCHOOL IN AUGUST??? SHE IS SOOOO EXCITED!!

Mama knows best, doesn't she?

Well, we all went to Papa Martin's house yesterday for lunch. Luke had already been there once and we thought it would be great and IT WAS! Lunch was wonderful and Luke & Emy loved the goulash (thank you Aunt Darlene--Luke rubbed his belly and said "yum"). We got to visit with Aunt Darlene, Papa Martin, Aunt Diane and Luke&Emy's cousin, Carrson!! Carrson is a chunky monkey who loves to crawl around the floor. He followed Luke around wanting his Cheese Nips!!

Did I mention we went to Sunday School, Worship Service and then to Papa Martin's?? Luke didn't get his nap at his normal 12:30-1:00 time frame and boy did we wish he would have. Luke practiced stair climbing so I guess we can now call him the "Stair master"-HA!

Well, when he got so tired he couldn't step UP anymore, we went back inside. He was SO TIRED. So the all-knowing Mama stepped in and started rocking her sweet boy to sleep (or so she thought).

BUT--it wasn't Luke's rocking chair, or Luke's house, or Luke's TV on. So, you know where this is going, right?? Luke had NOTHING of naptime at Papa Martin's. Sorry Papa that we put you through ALL THAT SCREAMING!!

Did I mention that Luke is just a tad bit STRONG WILLED??? Well, to say the least. . . So the BEST mama in the world did what Luke wanted, she took him outside and THAT DID NOT HELP! He wanted to do more stairs--well, he was physically UNABLE to do that so Mama steps in again and makes him even ANGRIER!!! I didn't think it was possible! I said No, No, you can't do the steps right now--you might fall--Luke is SO tired!!

So, MORE SCREAMING!!!

Then the Mama of ALL Mamas said the magic words--let's get daddy and Emy and GO FOR A RIDE IN THE GARI (car in Bengali, folks). He turned off the tears just like turning off a light, we went inside, got our stuff together (Luke gave goodbye kisses to everyone) and the little fellow stayed awake ALL the way home--it gets better--we get home, Mama carries the sleeping EMY into the house and puts her on the couch (such a sweetie pie), Daddy takes the AWAKE LUKE into the house. Then it happened--

Mama sat in Luke's rocking chair and held the sweet, loving, stubborn, strong-willed, so tired he couldn't stand up little man Luke and HE FELL RIGHT TO SLEEP!!

Ya'll. Oh my goodness was I ever TIRED after that!

I guess they really mean it when they say that children LIKE routine---I have to say---I can't blame them. . . after his 2 hour nap and back in his element, he was once again the playful, smiling, giggling, thumb-sucking Luke!! No tears here guys! No screaming either! Whew. . .

I can't wait to see you again Martin!! I have really missed coming to your house for Sunday dinner. Thanks for having us and we will come again real soon!!! Next time we will visit AFTER the nap and ALL WILL BE WELL. . .

See ya,
Cindy

Emy went to Youth Group!

I am so proud of my sweet girl. Emy went to Youth Group tonight at church. I did stay with her but I feel like later on, she will stay by herself. Our youth leaders are so good with the youth at our church. This youth group KNOW their scriptures--when I hear them I am impressed! I was never a part of a youth group growing up and I think it is so important for young Christian people to be involved with the church.

Emy did well and participated tonight. She sang songs with the others , did the motions when they were needed and she also colored a beautiful picture of Zacchaeus in the sycamore tree! See above for this artwork. The 18 + 20 is how old the tree is, according to Emy. Again, I am so proud of her for wanting to go to Youth group and learn more. She does well in her Sunday School class too. She was learning scriptures and being rewarded for that. For the last 2 sundays, she has gone to class with Luke and me. That is okay, too. She will get enough of that and soon will move back into her class. Ya'll pray for this, okay??? I feel like she learns so much more when she goes to her big girl class. She isn't distracted by the babies and toddlers so much in there.

Thanks a bunch. Talk with ya'll later,
Cindy

A few more pics!

Luke loves popcorn!

What a smile!

Cristian & Luke are buddies.

Emy vacuums her room.

Luke WATCHES with interest while Emy vacuums her room (he doesn't know quite what to think about the vacuum yet) (actually, he runs from it. . )

It's been a great weekend

Now WHERE did I put those two front teeth? I LOVE IT when this happens. . .
I did it all by myself--I have mastered the BIG bumpy slide!! Yahoo!!
Yep, she's a monkey--Emy loves doing tricks on the monkey bars and then just letting go!! Please notice her silver sparkly shoes!! Emy is ALL about flash!
Josh was just hanging out and helping out with Luke at the park!!
The three amigos!! They had a great time at the park--Cristian was at Wal-Mart with his mom & dad...

We had a great weekend. Darrell & I actually left Luke & Emy for a couple of hours (with Ma & Pa--my mom and dad) and went out with another couple for a birthday dinner. We had such a good time. But, man I felt guilty!! I wonder why that is when its only for a couple of hours?! Oh well, we still had fun and EVEN went to Wal-Mart for a few minutes (ended up spending a little money on those younguns anyway). I am posting a few pictures that were taken over the last few days, so ENJOY!

Until next post,
Cindy
